Checking In Finally, An Overdue Post

I never thought I would be here writing this check in post but here we are. 2020 has been a year marred with global pandemics, heinous racist acts against people of color, financial distress for so many who have lost their jobs, and that's just the beginning. It's been challenging for me to verbalize my thoughts, but I have to make peace with everything that's been going on in order to move forward.

make peace with it,

move forward

Over the discourse of the last 3 months, most of us have had to confront our experiences with racism that we had forced ourselves to suppress and not feel it. For me, that confrontation looked like going to bed and waking up in tears from the pain of having to relive these experiences from the age of 7.

If I were to list every single experience this post would be extremely long but it very well may be a discussion for the podcast. These past months have ultimately shed light on how much healing I need to do.

Part of that healing will require me to be more open, transparent, actively seek help and start seeing a therapist. I plan on sharing the entirety of that journey on here.

With that being said, a unanimous decision was made to make a few changes on the content being put out. We'll still be creating fashion content, however moving forward we'll be including mental health and well being information as it has become a heavily weighted topic for me.

On the bright side, there has been a lot of wins in this season. I have taken on a major co-creator project for an upcoming holiday collection with Express. I have actively collaborated with them in the past and I can't wait for this project to unfold. We're also re-launching our newsletter towards the end of Q3 and it will be a wholesome newsletter filled with freebies, guest features, business advice, and exclusive content verticals that have not been featured here on the blog. If you've been following along thus far, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support throughout the years. I hope to continue to grow together in this new season!
